What is clinical exercise?

Being strong, flexible and fit are important to allow us to live independent lives, reduce our risk of injury and early death and to continue to do the things we value.

This can be challenging with injury, ,surgery, age related physical changes or with a diagnosis of a chronic health condition. Clinical exercise is a route to beconing as physically fit and as well as you can in a safe and effective way, even with your health concerns.

It can be used in specific, evidence based ways, as a robust part of an illness prevention and treatment programme.

An initial assessment is essential to ensure that your physiotherapy and / or clinical exercise plan is safe, appropriate and meets your needs and goals.

After your assessment, we will discuss together the best route forward for you. This could be hands on physiotherapy, individual or class exercise, advice or a combination.

I do what is traditionally known as “hands-on physiotherapy” when needed. This is often accompanied or followed by an exercise programme to prevent a return of the issue and augment recovery.

There is no one answer to this question. It will depend on your assessment and your goals. Sometimes it may take two appointments to complete your full assessment and start a therapy programme. It may then be appropriate to continue with weekly one to one sessions.

However, if you are working on a home exercise programme, it may be more appropriate to come in once every six to eight weeks. It may be necessary to be flexible and adapt the original plan depending on how you respond.

All Initial Assessments last one hour and are €100.
Return Consultations last 45 minutes and are €80.
One to One S+C Sessions last 30 minutes are €55.
Group Treatment Sessions (Classes) last 45 minutes and are €15. These are booked as a full block.
